Emperor penguin chicks at the Cape Crozier colony on Ross Island
Emperor penguins and chicks at the Ross Sea Marine Protected Area. Researchers have fitted the penguins with noninvasive trackers similar to a Fitbit to record and analyze their behavioral patterns including how far they travel for food, how deep they dive, and whether they're walking, swimming or sliding.
